When you add a module to a page (or edit an existing module) you have the ability to define a filter for that module.

Once you have finished adding or editing the module you can look at the resulting page and see how it looks. At this point, any filter that you have defined will be in action.
To define a filter you must specify at least one condition. You can specify more than one and combine them with either "AND" or "OR" statements to get your desired filter criteria eg Author Is Joe Blow AND Publish Date Is In Current Month

You specify a condition using the Filter builder at the bottom of the Module Edit form.

  1. Pick from the available fields, then
  2. Choose an operator, and
  3. Specify a value, then
  4. Click the Add button to add the condition to the filter.

Finally, click the Update Module button to update the module settings.

Then you can view the page itself to see how the module filter works.

There are three special filter conditions that let you filter by Author, Item, or Event. These conditions include a button that will launch a pop-up window to show you a list of all Authors, Items, or Events in your site. Note that this list is not filtered by any conditions that you have applied so far.

Another special filter condition is for HTML content. This condition provides you with a dropdown box to select an HTML 'snippet' for inclusion on your page. This lets you reuse HTML throughout your site which can be helpful occasionally.

Lastly, there are date related conditions that let you specify a time point relative to the current time (eg In 3 weeks time, This year, Today). These conditions have a different interface again with a combination of dropdown boxes and an input box.
